This book is based on the history of the land following the Government taking over of the Church Mission Society (Anglican Church) land and the southern end including the battle of Gate Pa site which was confiscated from Maori. I have often used current road names to identify locations although the roads may not have existed or had different names at the time. Many of the roads in the County did not have official names and were usually “known by” the person who lived at the end of the road. After the Gate Pa and Greerton areas became part of the Tauranga Borough, unnamed streets were named and placed on maps.
